Another increase in PG’s jobless numbers

PRINCE GEORGE-According to numbers out of Statistics Canada, the jobless rate in Prince George climbed to 7.3 percent last month , compared to 6.2 percent in March and 3.8 percent in April of last year.

Some 49,000 people were working last month , compared to 53,000 the same time last year. Construction ,manufacturing , wholesale and retail sectors were the hardest hit in our region .

BC’s unemployment rate was at 5 percent last month compared to 4.5 percent in March and 4.8 percent in April of 2022.

The national unemployment rate held steady at 5 percent for the fifth consecutive month .
