After seeing the need for more locally-owned and dynamic firms with end-to-end services, TDB Consultants Inc., a leading land resource management firm, acquired NorCan Consulting Ltd. an archaeology and heritage consulting company in June 2025.
The coming together of these two established leaders in natural resource and archaeological consulting marks a future-focused evolution for the industry. This new partnership brings together complementary expertise to serve a broader and more diverse range of clients—while staying deeply rooted in the local relationships and trust built over the past 35 years with large and small firms, First Nations and governmental agencies.
“Dick and I go back more than 30 years. Over that time, we’ve built our businesses on the same foundation—trust, quality and a deep respect for the work we do,” said Normand Canuel, President and Senior Archaeologist at NorCan.
The acquisition of NorCan by TDB marks a new chapter for both firms and their clients. The move is a shared commitment to regional growth and innovation.
“Together, we can now offer broader services in resource management and archaeological consulting, without compromising the care and expertise our clients know us for,” said Dick Mynen, CGS – President and CEO of TDB.
What This Means for Northern BC:
- Continued Local Presence: Both companies will continue operating from their current Prince George offices with no disruptions to client relationships
- Expanded Services: Clients will benefit from a seamless one-stop hub combining archaeological assessments, land management, forestry, and geomatics
- Team Growth and New Leadership: The integration also welcomes three new partners to the leadership team: Cassandra Findlay, Mark Carlson, RPF, and Roy Dresen, RPF.
This move reflects the firms’ investment in long-term leadership and growth TDB and NorCan are built on shared values and a commitment to supporting First Nations partnerships, local employment and sustainable development across sectors including forestry, mining, energy and renewables.
