I took the chance to quit my job and created a business that truly connects with my soul.
I always had a thing for organizing – grouping things together, and placing them where they belong. It didn’t mean that my house was always clean and tidy, but when I felt stressed, organizing brought me a lot of comfort.
After years of working at the same, passionless job, I took a leap of faith and decided to pursue what I truly love doing: organizing and helping people manage their unused, unloved and unnecessary possessions.
At the time, I had no idea this was even a job, but I felt like life is what I make it, and I wanted it to be meaningful to me and helpful to others. Two years later, I am a trained professional organizer with several certifications under my belt, and I couldn’t be any happier.
As a professional organizer, my workdays never look the same. My clients and their organizing needs are unique and range from simple fixes to multi-day, multi-room sessions. Many of my clients deal with ADHD or brain trauma and need my services to keep them accountable and help them get started on their organizing journey. It is usually too overwhelming for them to start on their own, but once we’ve met and established a plan, make some progress and put some systems in place, my clients are so happy and relieved. After working on one of my client’s closets, she told me: “Every time I open my closet door, I get a dose of dopamine looking at all the organization in there! This is like therapy over and over.”
There is much to say about the health benefits of living in an uncluttered home, especially on our mental well-being, and my mission is to bring that sense of serenity to anyone needing it, one happy home at a time.
