PRINCE GEORGE – With the nod from City Council, City Administration will pursue the proposal to become a hydrogen hub.

The Province initially approached the City with the concept and put up $150,000 dollars from the BC Hydrogen Fund to conduct a case study report, pursue investor resources, and a summary report for next steps.

The BC Hydrogen strategy was released in 2021 and “ … the Province’s plan to accelerate the production and use of low-carbon hydrogen and establish B.C as a world leader in the global hydrogen economy. The Strategy includes 63 policy actions that support and promote the production, use and export of hydrogen in B.C. over the next 10 years and beyond.”

According to the report to Council, Prince George has been recognized as an ideal location to kickstart the development of a central BC hydrogen hub.
