KICA Contracting Ltd., a 100% Tahltan-owned business, has been honored with a 2024 Indigenous Business Award. Founded by Kimberly Marion, KICA has made significant strides in the resource sector by creating employment opportunities for Indigenous peoples.

Starting with just four staff members and a small catering operation, KICA has grown into a major player in its field, employing over 100 people and servicing up to eight camps. Notably, 85% of KICA’s workforce consists of Tahltan individuals, reflecting Marion’s commitment to enhancing Indigenous career prospects and promoting fair wages.

As part of the award, KICA Contracting Ltd. will receive a cash prize, be featured in a recognition film by BC Achievement, and be presented with a medallion and lapel pin designed by renowned artist Robert Davidson, OC, OBC. The company will also be honored at a gala dinner in Vancouver.

The Indigenous Business Award program celebrates exceptional Indigenous entrepreneurs and enterprises, recognizing their leadership, community impact, innovation, and sustainability.
