Long-time home of Smithers’ newspaper up for sale as business needs change

The Interior News is selling the building it’s been in for the past 40 years and looking for a new location that better suits the paper’s current needs.
The newspaper moved into its current location on Broadway Avenue when the newspaper business was very different than it is today. At that time, everything from developing photographs to laying out pages required extra space. In the digital era, the building has simply outgrown the newspaper.
“We’ll share more on that as things progress but rest assured that our next home will still be right here in our beautiful mountain town,” said Grant Harris, Interior News publisher.
“We remain committed to local, unbiased, accredited and authentic journalism and to providing effective marketing and solutions for our clients’ needs.”
The Interior News, which has served the Bulkley Valley since 1907, resided for decades in various buildings in the downtown core before moving to its current location. The current location was, among other things, once the home of the Masonic Lodge.
The sale is being handled by Smithers realtor Jantina Hamelink who can be reached at 250-847-3144 or jantina@realestatesmtihers.com.
