FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The local Co-op was recognized on Tuesday for its used oil and antifreeze management, along with 29 other B.C. businesses.
The BC Used Oil Management Association (BCUOMA) released its list of the top 30 B.C. businesses awarded for their safe collection, storage and management of used oil and antifreeze.
Fort St. John Co-op Association ranked number 16 on BCUOMA’s 2022 list.
“Our ability to properly recycle and re-introduce used materials back into B.C.’s circular economy is important work that requires growing infrastructure to enable safe collection, handling, and storage,” said David Lawes, CEO of BCUOMA.
“Every single one of these collectors contributes to keeping our local communities stronger and healthier due to their ongoing commitment to keeping oil, filters, antifreeze and their containers out of landfills.”
BCUOMA’s criteria included the total amount of materials and containers collected, the total number of years involved in the program, and a demonstration of the business’s continued support of the association.
Businesses in Burnaby, Abbotsford and Maple Ridge held the top three spots on BCUOMA’s 2022 list.
