According to recent reports, CityWest is expanding south to Texada Island.
The Prince Rupert based company bought the Gilles Bay Internet Society which currently serves the area and with the current infrastructure, CityWest will serve 250 homes and businesses on the island and will spend $150,000 on upgrading the existing infrastructure.
This Texada expansion is part of the connected coast project, which is looking to bring high speed internet to 139 remote locations in a project run by CityWest and the Strathcona Regional District.
When the project is completed, a fibre optic cable will run from Vancouver under the sea to as far north as Lax Kw’alaams while also circling Vancouver Island to bring service to Haida Gwaii.https://www.cfnrfm.ca/2022/11/07/citywest-expanding-into-texada-island/
