BCUC Seeks Feedback on $4.92M Tumbler Ridge Gas Plant Rehabilitation by PNG

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — The British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) is seeking public feedback on Pacific Northern Gas Ltd.’s (PNG) application for capital expenditures on a project in the District of Tumbler Ridge.

PNG announced on October 18th that it applied for a schedule of capital expenditures detailing equipment repairs at the Tumbler Ridge Gas Plant (TRGP) as part of its TRGP rehabilitation project.

PNG says in a letter released online in late August 2024 addressed to BCUC secretary Patrick Wruck the repairs are considered “crucial.”

“Project activities are planned for September 2024 and expenditures related to these 14 activities will be incurred in advance of a BCUC decision on this Application,” says part of the 102-page document addressed to Wruck.

Located 45 kilometres southeast of the district, the release says the project will occur in two phases during arranged outages and is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2025.

If approved, the TRGP will cost approximately $4.92 million and have a rate of impact of $3.79/Gigajoule per customer in the district by 2026.

Those interested will have until Tuesday, October 22nd, to request intervener status with the BCUC and until Wednesday, November 27, to submit letters sharing views, opinions, and insights on the project.
